Guild Business:
Good news, we will not be charging dues for membership!
The Quilt Fest of New Jersey is February 28 - March 3 in Somerset. Let us know on BigTent if you would like to car pool to any of the events.
Let's start thinking about a day trip(s) or maybe even a weekend excursion to our favorite fabric shops in Pennsylvania. Possible destinations are:
We also had lively discussions about the techniques used for making the Showcased quilts, submitting quilts for a juried competition, some of our favorite tools, and tricks to use up all those scraps we can't throw away.
For February:
We will be joining the online Scrappy Trip Along and will each make a block for our next meeting. If you haven't heard of the craze, here's a sample quilt by City Stitches which is posted on Flikr.
Use the Quiltville's tutorial to make a 12 1/2" block from six fabric strips, each 2 1/2" wide by 16" long. The only requirement for your block is that one of the strips must be solid white.
These blocks are quick and addicting! Here's mine:
At our March Sew-in, we will use the blocks to make a quilt to be donated to a local charity.
On a different subject, I've been inspired by Carolyn and Jackie to start my own blog: my studioQ. I hope you enjoy it!
