Time to get sewing!
Yikes - our entries for the Riley Blake Challenge are due February 17!
You can make anything, any size, from any or all of the six fat-eighths you received as long as it is quilted. You may add any solid fabric but printed fabrics must be from Riley Blake.
As the deadline looms, I've gone from planning a baby quilt, to a wall hanging to a pin cushion! If I don't get started this week ~ it's going to be a mug rug!
To enter you have to upload a picture of your work of art to the mama guild's website. This will be a challenge in itself I'm sure. So when you're finished, feel free to email me your pic and I'll add it to the mama site and our blog too.
Remember to just have fun with these fabrics!

December Meeting Re-Cap
Happy New Years!! I hope that everyone had a great holiday season and is ready to start a great new year. Hard to believe that it is already 2014! I know I am starting the year off well with finally getting my computer back from being fixed.
I am sure everyone has seen that our meeting day has changed to the third Wednesday of the month, making this month's January 15. (Thanks to Diane for emailing everyone!)
Last month we had a fun cookie night as we went through our meeting. Lots of yummy treats were shared along with hot chocolate
Down to business...
We went over dues for the next year. Dues for current paying members will remain at $25, dues for new joining members will be $35.
Our quilts that we donated to the Jersey Shore Arts Center were a hit!! Our group quilt will be hung here in the building for all to enjoy. We have also been asked if we can display quilts, to be changed monthly, at the center. We can set up a signup so we know who will bring a quilt when to be hung for the month. It is a great way to show what we do and maybe get some more interest in our group.
We would like to set some sew days, possible a Saturday or Sunday, once a month here at the arts center. It will be a great way to get others opinions and advice on what we or working or or even work on charity projects together (like NICU quilts).
Since we didn't have a queen bee last month we asked everyone if they could bring a 12.5" square baby block in the colors of yellow, blue, and white to be made into NICU quilts for donation.
In January we will be starting as a group a Tula Pink quilt along using the 100 Modern Quilt Blocks book. You can purchase it as an e-book or hard copy. You can also find it in the library of you would like to take a look before you buy. Each month we will randomly choose 3 blocks to make for the month. You can choose to make 1, al 3, or none. It is all up to you. There are great blocks in the book and it is a prefect scrap stash project since it uses so many tine pieces.
Show and Share:
Brandy brought in a table runner she was working on to get a little advice on finishing.
Bonnie shared with us her amazing sunflower quilt that she made. Look at all that quilting fro the back!
Eileen brought in the Aeroplane bag by Sew Sweetness that she made as a gift for someone. Great colors!
Carolyn brought in a Christmas quilt she made to share with everyone.
We also had our gift swap. We each made a quilted item to swap.
Lots of great items were swapped!
I know we have added more to the list of queen bees, but I don't remember the order so I will add them when I find out. But for now, this is the current order.
Queen Bee months:
Can't wait to see everyone on the 15th. Stay warm!

A new year and a new meeting day
I hope everyone has recovered from the holidays and you're enjoying the new year, albeit a frigid one!
At December's meeting a majority of members were present and voted to change our meeting day to the third Wednesday of the month. This way our members from Cape May will be able to join us more often!
Our next meeting is January 15 ~ so you can stay snug at home tomorrow night!
See you on the 15th!
