PINCUSHIONS AND WALNUTS!!
It has been decided our December meeting will include a PINCUSHION SWAP as the activity. To that end... Carolyn has created a PINTEREST board to post all our fabulous inspirations to. Contact her through our Facebook page if you want to be added to the board.

One of our members, *ahem* Bonny, needs a little help with her pincushion. Does any one else need help??? If so... comment below and we'll work out a time and place to hold a mini-lesson.

One of the biggest concerns with finishing a pincushion is... what to stuff it with. Fiberfill can be packed in tight to provide the hardness you need, but it's too light and the pincushion might constantly fall over or get pushed around when you push the pins into it. Steel wool (without soap) is a good option, and with the addition of a sandbag base the pincushion would stay in place AND keep pins from rusting. After doing a bit of research online, ground walnuts seem to be the preferred stuffing by many quilters. Soooooo.... I purchased a BIG bag of them, and am eager to share. If you decide you would like to stuff your pincushion with ground walnuts, bring a ziplock baggie to our next meeting and take some home.

BUS TRIP!
Did you know that you get a 20% discount coupon to use during your BIRTHDAY MONTH at Pennington Quilt Works??? I grabbed Bonny for a road trip to PQW to use mine last week. As we pulled up to the parking lot we noticed a large touring bus parked along the curb. The store was overflowing with quilters all wearing name tags, talking, laughing, and buying fabric. .. yards and yards of fabric. We found out they were all from a guild in Watkins Glen, NY. They were attending Quilters Take Manhattan the next day, but were touring as many NJ Quilt Shops as they could before spending the night in Newark. After attending Quilters Take Manhattan... they had plans to take NYC by storm. What fun!!! What do you think... are you interested in taking a bus trip sometime next year? Reply in the comments below with your thoughts.

HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE...
Speaking of Pennington Quilt Works... they are holding their annual Holiday Open House this weekend. Friday October 2nd and Saturday October 3rd. Music, refreshments, gift ideas, holiday projects, and Make-it Take-it tables.
